INTERNSHIPS

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock offers three different internships in Marketing & Special Events, Volunteer Recruitment and Program, for college students looking to gain experience, build professional contacts or earn class credit.

 

Marketing & Special Events Internship:

Job Summary:

The Marketing & Special Events intern will assist the Marketing Director in building awareness for the organization as well as promoting and planning fundraising events throughout the semester. This internship will help improve the student’s skills with public relations, event planning, and marketing strategies.

 

Main Responsibilities:

• Assist with event planning, promotion, & logistics

• Help maintain the agency’s website and social media sites

• Write press releases, feature stories, etc. to help increase awareness of organization

• Create and distribute email blasts for volunteers, donors, etc.

• Assist in other Marketing and Fundraising areas as needed

 

Requirements:

• Must be advertising, marketing, public relations, or related major

• Must be able to work at least 10 hours per week

• Comfortable with public speaking and conducting cold calls

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

• Reliable transportation

• Valid Driver’s License

• Must be able to pass a background check

• Must provide references

Volunteer Recruitment Internship:

Job Summary:

The Volunteer Recruitment intern will assist the Marketing Director in building awareness for the organization as well as recruiting volunteers. This internship will help improve the student’s skills with public relations, public speaking, and marketing strategies.

 

Main Responsibilities:

• Attend volunteer recruitment fairs

• Assist in the creation of volunteer recruitment materials

• Make initial contact with potential volunteers

• Write press releases and feature stories to increase public awareness of volunteer needs

• Assist in planning recruitment opportunities and events

• Assist in the volunteer enrollment processes as needed

 

Requirements:

• Must be advertising, marketing, public relations, or related major

• Must be able to work at least 10 hours per week

Program Internship:

Job summary:

Assist program staff in daily tasks that include, but are not limited to: conducting references, intake, assessments, eligibility determination, record keeping, and maintenance of confidential records.

 

Requirements:

• Must be a Social Work, HDFS, or related major.

• Be able to work at least 10-15 hours per week.

• At least a sophomore standing

• Organized

• Reliable transportation

• At least 1 year experience or class equivalent hours

• Valid Driver’s License

• Must be able to pass a background check

• Must provide references.
